Darien Patch Storm Tracker
Keep it here for storm photos and hyperlocal, weather-related information.
A winter storm, the cause of a rapidly south-moving band of low pressure, will bring significant snowfall and gusty winds to our patch throughout the day and into Thursday morning.
Meteorologists say snow will continue to fall at a one inch-per-hour rate through the Wednesday overnight.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for southern Fairfield County, in anticipation of blizzard-like conditions.
Strong winds of 35 to 45 mph will make for reduced visibility, and snow is likely to accumulate quickly, even on treated roadways. Traveling is ill advised. If you must drive, Darien Police urge you to drive with extra caution.
Meteorologists anticipate eight to 13 inches of snow, and—to the chagrin of many parents at last night's Board of Education meeting—Darien students have placed their bets on yet another snow day tomorrow.
