DARIEN, CT — Here are the recent death notices from Darien.

Barbara Hrabrick McQuillen, 78, died June 14, 2026, and was a psychology graduate of Chestnut Hill College who taught at the Devereux School, sang in her church choir, and enjoyed animals, especially bearded collies and tabby cats, as well as dolphins, giraffes, Disney and "The Wizard of Oz," as well as her family.

Elizabeth Anne Regan Dever ("Betty Anne"), 84, died June 5, 2026, and was a University of Connecticut mathematics graduate who worked in the early days of computer programming on systems for NASA and the U.S. Army, volunteered with organizations including the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk, the Darien YWCA, St. Luke's Parish and Darien United Way, and enjoyed reading, lifelong learning, baking Maine blueberry pie and following the UConn Huskies women's basketball.

John Edwin Brainard II, 85, died June 5, 2026, and was a Darien High School graduate who worked in finance and was an avid sailor, racing aboard Bolero in the 1960s and 1970s and spending many years sailing and racing while holding memberships at the Indian Harbor Yacht Club, Ida Lewis Yacht Club and Edgartown Yacht Club.

Richard Joseph Saverine, died May 29, 2026, and was a graduate of Lafayette College and Georgetown University who practiced orthodontics, served as a captain and dentist in the U.S. Air Force, and enjoyed motorcycling, skiing, boating aboard his 46-foot vessel "Someday" and following the New York Yankees.
