DARIEN, CT — The Darien Police Department is reminding residents to lock their car doors and take their belongings with them.

In a Facebook post Thursday, the department said it has seen an increase in reports of stolen vehicles in town. Since June, police said there have been 18 stolen vehicles reported, as well as numerous burglaries. Police responded to seven reports from residents on July 27 alone.

"In almost all cases, keys had been left inside the vehicle. It is important to note that stolen vehicles are often used statewide to facilitate serious crimes in other jurisdictions," police said.
