Darien Post 53 Announces New Director
Nancy Herling will take over as director of Post 53.

DARIEN, CT- Nancy Herling will take over as director of Post 53.
Current director Ron Hammer is retiring from the role after six years, according to a Facebook post by the organization.
"We are so pleased that Nancy has agreed to take on this role as Director of Post 53," said Mike Murray, the Post's board chairman. She brings many years of valuable experience with Post to the job."

Murray added that Hammer displayed tremendous commitment and leadership in his role.
Herling is a lifelong Darien resident and served as a member of the Post from 1973 to 1977. She rejoined in 2007 and is a certified AEMT, EMS instructor and CPR instructor.

She has led several school PTOs in town, is a former director of the Senior Center and former President of A Better Chance and At Home in Darien.
Herling is also an Elder at Noroton Presbyterian Church and has served on the Human Services Commission for more than 20 years. With her husband, Mike Herling, they have raised their three sons in Darien.
