Darien School Board To Review Student Assessment Results, Budget Transfers, And More

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Board of Education is scheduled Tuesday to review standardized assessment results covering student performance in English language arts, math, science, the SAT and Advanced Placement exams.

The board will meet in person at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the meeting room at the Darien Public Schools Administrative Office. The meeting will also be streamed on YouTube, and doors will open at 7:15 p.m.

District officials are expected to present a comprehensive report on 2025-26 student achievement and the 2024-25 state accountability results. The presentation is listed for discussion and possible action.

The board’s consent agenda includes the August financial report and six proposed budget transfers.

The consent agenda also includes a proposed calendar amendment that would move Darien High School’s May 14, 2027, early dismissal to May 21, the day of the junior prom.

Board members may also consider a proposed Darien High School music department trip to Nashville, Tenn., from April 1-4, 2027. The estimated cost is $1,500 to $1,800 per student, with fundraising opportunities and need-based scholarships available.

The board is also scheduled to consider accepting gifts for Darien High School wrestling warm-up suits, a football helmet repair trunk and a field hockey Jugs machine.
