DARIEN, CT — The Darien Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. on June 17 to gather public comment on increasing the tipping fee for commercial haulers for single stream recycling.

The hearing will be part of the regularly scheduled Board of Selectmen meeting.

According to a news release from the town, as of July 1, 2024, Win Waste — formerly known as City Carting — will be invoicing Darien $75 per ton to haul away recycling from the town transfer station.

Should the selectmen approve the increase, DPW will implement the hauler fee change effective July 1, 2024, the town said.

Any fee increase approved will be posted on social media and at the Transfer Station Scale House, and a notification will be sent to a current list of registered haulers, the town noted.

All current tipping fees and residential dump permit rates were last reviewed with some revisions in September 2022, according to the town.
