Thriving Youth Darien Program Director Honored With Special Award (patch.com) — Darien's own Thriving Youth Darien program director, Sarah McCarty, has been honored with a 2026 Above & Beyond Award for her work supporting local youth mental health and substance-use prevention. Her coalition brings together Darien schools, parents, law enforcement and teens to run youth-led campaigns, improve medication safety, and ensure young residents' voices shape community prevention efforts.
   

2. Police: 15-year-old arrested in connection with Darien home invasion (news12.com) — Darien police have arrested a 15-year-old in connection with a March home invasion on Five Mile River Road, where three masked suspects allegedly entered using a hidden key and one displayed a handgun. The homeowner fired at the intruders, who fled in a car later found stolen in Fairfield, and detectives used video, canvassing, and warrants to identify the juvenile suspect.
   

3. 'Distinctive' English Cottage For Sale In Darien (patch.com) — A 1929 English-style cottage at 30 Birch Road in Darien is on the market for $2,895,000, offering over 4,000 square feet and four bedrooms. Set on more than an acre in one of Darien's most sought-after neighborhoods, the home blends classic character with modern updates for buyers seeking space and charm close to town amenities.
   

4. MULTI-TOWN SCOOP: Chip City closes all 3 CT locations (theconnecticutscoop.com) — Darien cookie fans just lost their local Chip City, as the chain has abruptly closed all three of its Connecticut shops, including the Heights Road location at Darien Commons. The closures, which also affect Fairfield and West Hartford, are listed as permanent for now, though the company hints a new franchisee could eventually reopen them.
   

5. Man arrested after being found naked at New York rest area (thetimesherald.com) — A 56-year-old Darien man was arrested at a New York rest area after state police say they found him naked, impaired, and in possession of several controlled substances and paraphernalia. He was taken into custody, charged following a vehicle search, arraigned in Bedford Town Court, and released on his own recognizance pending a later court date.
