Darien Swap Shop Reopens For Residents June 29
The popular swap shop was closed in March due to the coronavirus.
DARIEN, CT — Darien's popular Swap Shop is set to reopen with restrictions on June 29, according to town officials.
Located at the Darien Refuse and Recycling Center on Ledge Road, the Darien Swap Shop allows residents with a town permit to leave or pick up useable items for free, items that otherwise would be thrown away or recycled.
The facility was closed in March when the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic hit, though the refuse center remained open with limitations.

Under the new restrictions, the swap shop will be open on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays only, and will remain closed on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The hours for the swap shop will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Additionally, masks must be worn by everyone at the facility — volunteers and patrons — to enter the swap shop. Volunteers may limit number of people inside the swap shop, so patrons are asked to be patient and wait for your turn to use the swap shop.

Once inside, patrons are asked to be considerate and continue social distancing protocols.
"Please remember to wipe down any and all items that you drop off or pick up at the swap shop," officials said in a statement. "Please note that patrons will be limited to one – 15 minute visit per day.
"The success of the swap shop reopening and remaining open, depends upon all patrons following all appropriate CDC and State of Connecticut COVID-19 guidelines. Thank you."
