Date Set For 2024 Darien Pride Celebration

DARIEN, CT — The 2024 celebration of Pride in Darien has been scheduled for June 9.

Co-hosted by The Darien Depot, the annual event will take place at Tilley Pond Park from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and feature music, food trucks, crafts, family fun, swag, and more, according to Darien Pride's website.

Entertainment will include music, courtesy of local DJ Soce, songs by Stephen Cerussi, and drag performances by Darien High School graduate Boxa Crayonz and Brooklyn-based David Puck. Boxa Crayonz will also act as host for the festivities.

Darien Pride Chair Dan Guller said his committee is excited for this third year of celebrating diversity.

"We’ve gotten so many positive responses from our past celebrations. With the LGBTQ+ community under fire across the country, we need this reminder of how open and accepting Darien is, which is why the theme of ‘You Belong’ is so fitting. We want to make sure everyone, especially our LGBTQ+ youth, knows that their hometown welcomes them," Guller said in a news release.

In addition to the lively entertainment, the celebration will also feature local dignitaries sharing their experiences and the importance and benefits of living in a diverse community.

First Selectman John Zagrodzky will issue a proclamation declaring June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in Darien. State Sen. Ceci Maher will be presented with the Voices of Pride Award for her advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community in Darien and beyond.
