Decision Made On Classes At Darien Public Schools For March 3

DARIEN, CT — Due to the wintry mix expected to move into the area on Tuesday and the potential for icy roadway conditions, Darien Public Schools is closed for March 3.

"While I had hoped the forecast would have allowed us to have school today, in discussions with the DPW, the bus company, and our professional weather forecasting service, the mid-morning to late afternoon hours are very concerning for icing and challenging road conditions," Superintendent of DPS Dr. Eric Byrne wrote in an email to families Tuesday morning.

Snow will begin to fall late morning, early afternoon, and turn to all rain after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The high for Tuesday is 38 degrees.
