The Depot's 'Overstuffed Turkey Trot' Returns For 2024

DARIEN, CT — Plans are in full swing for the second annual Overstuffed Turkey Trot in support of The Depot, Darien’s Youth Center, to take place on Friday, Nov. 29.

The Trot begins with a one-mile "Fun Run and Walk" at 10 a.m., followed by the 5K starting at 10:30 a.m. The course will be along the scenic cross-country trail at Darien High School, and this year’s event will feature live music from The Dad Bods band, games for kids, and a variety of food trucks offering delicious options for everyone.

Community members are invited to join in the fun. Race registration is $45 for adults and $25 for youth aged 6-12; children aged 5 and under are free. Gift cards from event sponsor Darien Running Company will be awarded for the overall best times and will be offered by age brackets in both the one-mile and 5K races.

Whether running, walking, or volunteering, attendees will enjoy a fun and relaxed atmosphere, complete with activities for kids and live music.

The Depot’s Student Governing Board (SGB) will also be hosting a bake sale fundraiser at the event, which will include bagels from the new Cosmo’s in Darien Commons, coffee and hot chocolate, and homemade treats.

The Depot has served as Darien’s youth center for nearly 35 years, providing meaningful and transformative programming promoting competency-building skills, social and life skills, resilience, and community involvement for children, teens, and tweens in grades 4-12.

"The Depot, the place for youth in Darien to connect, grow, and give back, is thrilled to bring this town-wide event to our community again this year."
