WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons is calling for an "UMBRELLA ALERT" as Connecticut will see some heavy rain today and tonight and there may also be some thunderstorms too. The entire state could see more than an inch of rain before the rain ends on Thursday afternoon.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Hartford and Tolland counties saying, “Areas of heavy rainfall will bring a locally heavy downpours today and tonight. There is a low risk for localized urban and poor drainage flooding as a result.”
No advisory has been issued for Southern Connecticut but plenty of heavy rain and some thunderstorms are also expected here too.

Meteorologist Gil Simmons wrote, “Lots of weather to cover on this Wednesday! Showers & thunder here today with the UMBRELLA ALERT. Humid too! Drying later tomorrow. A slight shift east in medium range weather data when it comes to Hurricane Irma. A concern for FL, GA, SC & NC. It's all about the right turn expected Saturday Night - Sunday Morning. If this happens slower, it will impact more of Florida & if it is an earlier turn, more of the East Coast will be impacted.”
