Explosion At Darien Country Club Leaves 1 Injured: Police
Police are investigating the cause of a fire explosion that erupted at Wee Burn Country Club over the weekend.

DARIEN, CT — Police are investigating the cause of an explosion that erupted at Wee Burn Country Club over the weekend.
In a news release, Police Sgt. Dan Skoumbros said officers were called to the club Sunday around 11 a.m. after an explosion, which police described as a "fire explosion," inside the building was reported.
The building, located on Hollow Tree Ridge Road, had been evacuated before police and Noroton Heights Fire Department crews arrived. One person was injured and taken to a hospital by Emergency Medical Services, Skoumbros said.

A witness at the club told officers a loud explosion was heard in the bowling area of the building, Skoumbros said.
The Darien Fire Marshal's office began their investigation after determining the building was stable. Skoumbros said the damage was contained to the club's bowling area and some surrounding hallways.
