First Responders Honored By Darien Good Wife's River Chapter DAR

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Good Wife's River Chapter, Inc., Daughters of the American Revolution recently recognized National First Responders Day with a new display inside Darien Town Hall.

Chapter historian, Vigee Droesch, prepared a display in the town hall lobby case to honor Darien's first responders. The display will run through November.

Darien First Selectman Jon Zagrodzky issued a proclamation in honor of this important day.

First responder volunteers curated the archival items for this display, which featured memorabilia from the Noroton Fire Department (established in 1904), Noroton Heights Fire Department (established in 1903), Darien Fire Department (established in 1895), Darien EMS-Post 53 (established in 1970), Darien Police Department (established in 1925) and the Darien Fire Marshal.

National First Responders Day honors paramedics, emergency medical technicians, firefighters, police officers and 911 operators who answer the call when a crisis arises, often putting their own lives on the line.

Serving as a "national day of gratitude," National First Responders Day pays tribute to the services they render to their communities and honors fallen first responders. The day is also a call for action to support first responders and honors the collective work of all public safety volunteers and professionals.
