Here's How Darien Voted in Tuesday's Election

Two Republicans and one Democrat won seats on the Darien Board of Education in Tuesday's elections. In other races, all incumbents won.

Two Republicans and a Democrat were elected to the Darien Board of Education on Tuesday, all incumbents representing Darien in the state Legislature were re-elected, and candidates running unopposed naturally won re-election.

[Update: Darien’s vote totals were finally posted on the secretary of the state’s website late Wednesday.]

TURNOUT

A total of 7,080 people, or 57.8 percent of registered voters, showed up at the polls in Darien or turned in one of the 417 absentee ballots; in the last mid-term election in town, 66 percent of registered voters participated, according to the registrars, according to Registrars of Voters figures, the Darien News reported.

BOARD OF EDUCATION

Voters could choose any two, three were elected (numbers as reported by the Darien News:

Republican candidates:

David Dineen won — 4,249 votes

Michael Anton Harman won — 3,912 votes

Democratic candidates:

Tony Imbimbo lost — 2,029 votes

Michael J. Burke won — 2,126 votes

OTHER RACES

For probate judge, William P. Osterndorf, a Republican, was unopposed, as were registrar of voters candidates Kathy Hammell, a Democrat, and Republican John J. Visi, a Republican. Elections for the Representative Town Meeting also took place. In all districts there were fewer candidates than there are seats. All of these candidates won.

State Legislature Races

Incumbents won in each of the state Legislature races, according to the Darien Daily Voice. Darien Patch will publish preliminary voting results once they’re published.

STATE SENATE:

Darien Voting Districts 1, 3, 5 and 6 are in the 25th Senate District:

Democrat state Sen. Bob Duff beat Republican challenger Bill Dunne.

Darien Voting Districts 2 and 4 are in the 27th Senate District:

Democrat state Sen. Carlo Leone beat Republican challenger Eva. A. Maldonado and Green Party candidate David Michael.

STATE HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVES

Darien Voting Districts 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 are in the 141st House District:

Terrie Wood, a Republican ran unopposed, and, unsurprisingly, won.

Darien Voting District 3 is in the 147th House District:

Democrat state Rep. William Tong beat Republican challenger Dennis Mahoney.
