At-home Pedicure Leads to Fight, Disorderly Charge in Darien

An 18-year-old apparently wasn't satisfied with the pedicure her mother gave her and began to attack, according to police.

A Darien 18-year-old was issued a summons after she got into a fight with her mother and locked her outside the house after being unsatisfied with a pedicure, police said.

Police responded to a report of a domestic between a mother and daughter June 24 on Oak Crest around 9:45 p.m.

The mother told officers that she had just gotten home from work when her daughter said she had stubbed her toe and needed a nail fixed.

The mother said she wasn’t in the mood to do it, but performed the task after her daughter continued to ask.

She filed her daughter’s toenail, but her daughter didn’t think she did a good job, police said.

She cut her toenail and the daughter said she had cut it too short. The daughter also asked her to repaint her toenails, but the mother said she didn’t have time.

An argument ensued and the mother stepped outside to let things cool down. Her daughter then locked her out for 10 minutes, police said.

Upon coming back in the mother painted her daughter’s toenails. She began to lecture her daughter about her unruly behavior. The daughter then hit her mother in the head with both hands and hit her in the back when she walked away, according to police.

The mother showed police a chunk of her hair that was allegedly pulled out during the fight.

The daughter gave mostly the same story, but said that her mother yelled a profanity at her when she came back in the house and the two got into a pushing match.

She also admitted to blocking her mom from going to the bedroom.

The 18-year-old was issued a summons for disorderly conduct.
