
Angelo Anthony Toscano ("Toad"), a longtime resident of Darien, Connecticut, and Stuart, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, at the age of 91.
Born in Darien on June 8, 1935, Angelo was the son of the late Dominick Anthony Toscano and Angelina Riolo Toscano. A graduate of Darien High School's Class of 1953, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps before beginning a distinguished 43-year career in law enforcement.
Angelo joined the Darien Police Department in 1957, rising through the ranks to Captain and second-in-command before retiring in 1983 to become Chief of Police for the Wilton Police Department. He served as Wilton's Chief until his retirement in 2000. Throughout his career, he was recognized as a respected leader, educator, and advocate for modern policing, conducting numerous seminars and serving in leadership roles with local, state, regional, and national law enforcement organizations, including as Past President of the Connecticut Chiefs of Police Association and as a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Dedicated to his community, Angelo founded Darien Police Explorer Post 911 and volunteered as President and coach of both Darien Little League and Darien Babe Ruth Baseball, mentoring countless young people.
Angelo was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Toscano Crow.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Nancy Congdon; his son, Dominick Toscano (Rachel) of Switzerland; his daughters, Karen Ryan (Reed) of New Hampshire and Dana Toscano Lasher of Bozeman, Montana; his grandchildren, Jared Crow, Nicholas Crow (Theresa), Chad Crow (Julie), Kirby Crow, Dr. Kelsey Crow (Doug), Dr. Dylan Ryan (Leigh), Sean Ryan, Stefanie Lasher (Francisco), Lukas Lasher, Esq., and Logan Lasher; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Eliana, Ezra, Oliver, Roland, Luka, Tatum, and Macon.
Angelo will be remembered for his lifelong dedication to service, his unwavering integrity, his leadership, and the love he shared with his family, friends, and community.
Visitation for Angelo will be held on Friday July 10, 2026, at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd Darien from 5-8PM.Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday July 11, 2026 at 10AM at St. John RC Church 1986 Post Rd Darien, followed by Interment at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien with Full Military Honors.
