Jacob Velasco-Navarro, 16 of Darien

He passed away after a battle with cancer.

Jacob Ryan Velasco-Navarro of Darien passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer while surrounded by the love of his friends and family in Norwalk on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the age of 16.

A big New England Patriots fan, Jacob loved sports and played lacrosse, football, and rugby while attending Darien High School. He loved traveling and seeing the world to experience new cultures and food, and especially loved sushi. He also enjoyed spending quality time and sharing a good laugh with loved ones. His family and friends think of him fondly as cool and laid back with the biggest heart, and remember him as the strongest of them all.

Jacob is survived by his father Ryan Velasco and wife Amy Velasco of Darien, his mother Alexis Vega and husband Juan Vega of Norwalk, siblings John Vega, Isabella Vega and Myles Velasco, as well as other loving family members and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday May 15, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, located at 2119 Post Rd., Darien, CT 06820. A Funeral Service will be held the following day, May 16, 2016 at 12:00 PM at Hope Church, 240 Wolfpit Rd., Wilton, CT 06897. Jacob will then be laid to rest with his baby brother Luca following the service at St. John's Cemetery in Norwalk, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Baldrick's Foundation in Jacob's honor.
