JoyRide Cycling Studio Adds New Off-the-Bike Classes, New Instructors, New March Challenge

New off-the-bike classes at JoyRide Cycling Studio - Darien

March Madness may mean basketball, brackets and beer to some, but at JoyRide Cycling Studio, this month brings new high-energy classes, new expert instructors and new fitness challenges. Starting this month, fitness fans will have more opportunities to diversify their workouts at JoyRide Cycling Studio, the premier indoor cycling and fitness boutique in Westport and Darien.

Starting Monday, March 9, JoyRide will offer three new off-the-bike group classes in the Darien studio at 25 Old Kings Highway North in the Goodwives Shopping Center. In addition to their calorie-torching and heart-thumping indoor cycling, JoyCircuit and mat Pilates classes, JoyRide will offer new off-the-bike group classes for strength and resistance training, including JoyBOSU Blast, JoyTRX Fusion and JOYHIIT (High Intensity Interval Training).

JoyBOSU blast is a total body workout combining strength and cardio with an extra serving of balance training to strengthen one’s core. The Bosu ball, or balance trainer, makes exercises extra challenging by creating instability, which forces core engagement.

JoyTRX Fusion is another group class focused on the crucial core muscles. TRX suspension training uses one’s own body weight and gravity to deliver fast and effective total body workouts.

JoyHIIT is a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) class, combining strength and cardio movements. Training with high interval repetitions and quick recoveries is one of the fastest ways to improve fitness levels and torch calories.

Three new instructors also joined the JoyRide family: 99.9 radio show host and veteran fitness trainer Anna Zap, popular instructor and Darien resident Dina Fay and NCAA soccer player-turned-trainer Amy Tillotson. All three have extensive fitness backgrounds, unbridled enthusiasm and athleticism. These instructors will teach all three new classes, as well as JoyCircuit.

“Whether you’re looking to kickstart a fitness regime, lose weight or tone muscles, cross-training is crucial!” said JoyRide co-owner Rhodie Lorenz. “We are excited to offer new off-the-bike classes, in addition to our popular, heart-pounding indoor cycling classes. Our new instructors are motivating, knowledgeable and inspiring.”

From March 9 to 13, JoyRide will introduce these new classes for free. After March 13, JoyRiders can either pay for each class individually or purchase class packs that can be used for indoor cycling and off-the-bike classes alike.

JoyRide Darien also launched new afterschool rides dedicated to teenagers at a special price of $18.

Advance sign-ups are recommended. For class descriptions, schedules, instructor bios and pricing, please visit joyridestudio.com.

Passport Challenge
Also starting March 9 in both the Westport (1200 Post Road East) and Darien studios, JoyRiders will be awarded for trying every instructor and every class in a new Passport Challenge. Each time a JoyRider takes a class, he or she will stamp the instructor’s name. Depending on the number of stamps, JoyRiders will win swag bags of JoyRide gear and discounts.

“It’s easy to get stuck in a routine and stay the course, but it can also be exhilarating and empowering to try new workouts,” said Lorenz. “When we do, we discover new goals and new capabilities. We are excited to launch this fun challenge and reward JoyRiders when they push outside their comfort zones, mix it up and try new classes and instructors.”

March Madness
JoyRide will also offer special discounts and promotions during NCAA’s March Madness, which will be announced as flash sales throughout the tournament.
