Lack Of Transparency Concerns Dog Darien Board Of Education: Report

A town official and a local publication want more information from the board.

DARIEN, CT — The local Board of Education is grappling with a transparency issue, as a Darien Representative Town Meeting member and the Darien News claim the board is not providing enough information on some matters.

At issue is the number of times the board goes into executive session, and how, which the publication writes is not in accordance with Freedom of Information guidelines.

Additionally, RTM Education subcommittee member Young Sup Lee says the board did not provide enough operating and capital budget information. Schools Superintendent Dan Brenner disagrees, stating that the board provides information for which it believes the town is ready to receive.
