Lenny Hunter, Darien VFW Commander, Critically Injured In Crossing Guard Crash: Report
Hunter and another crossing guard were struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning in Bridgeport.

DARIEN, CT — Lenny Hunter, commander of the Darien VFW Post 6933, suffered two broken legs and is in critical condition after he and another crossing guard were struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning in Bridgeport, reports the Darien Times.
Hunter, a longtime employee for the United States Postal Service in Darien, is being treated at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport where he is in the Intensive Care Unit, according to the publication. The crash occurred at the intersection of Park and North avenues near the Geraldine Johnson Elementary School.
A Vietnam War veteran, Hunter was the Grand Marshal of Darien's 2016 Memorial Day Parade, and he also became commander of the local VFW the same month.
