George M. Mason, a lifelong resident of Darien, died on March 22, 2026. George was born on February 1, 1926, and was the son of the late John and Josephine Asemberg Mason. He graduated from Darien High School in 1944 and was an active member of St. John R.C. Church in Noroton, as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6933 and the American Legion. George retired from Stolt-Nielsen in Greenwich and proudly served as a Navy Seabee during World War II.
He was predeceased by his parents, and his siblings: brothers Joseph, Frank, and Vincent Mason; and sisters Mary, Anna, Rose, and Sophie Hladis. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Lawrence Funeral Home, located at 2119 Post Road, Darien. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. John Church in Darien. George's burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Post 53, PO Box 2066, Darien, CT 06820.
