Thomas John Gallagher (Tommy) of Darien, CT, born May 6, 1971, passed away peacefully at the age of 54 on March 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of those whose lives he brightened so effortlessly.1

Tommy was the beloved son of Noreen Gallagher and the late Robert Gallagher, Jr . of Darien, Connecticut. He is survived by his devoted siblings: Marie Gallagher (Joseph Henn) of Darien, Connecticut; Michael Gallagher of Norwalk, Connecticut; Dennis Gallagher (Veronica) of Middle Village, New York; Kevin Gallagher (Jeannine) of Darien, Connecticut; and Brian Gallagher (Suzanne) of New Canaan, Connecticut. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Gallagher III. He was a loving uncle and great-uncle to twenty-two nieces and nephews.

Tommy was also blessed with a deeply devoted second family: the residents and dedicated caregivers of the Cottage of Darien, Always Reach for Independence (ARI) of Stamford, and Star Lighting the Way of Norwalk. They embraced him as one of their own and shared in the joy he brought to everyday life. His warmth, humor, and unmistakable spirit enriched the lives of his extended family as well.1

Tommy was truly the life of every gathering, famous for his heartwarming speeches at family events and his infectious sense of humor and quick wit. With a natural gift for making people feel comfortable, his smile could light up any room, creating moments of happiness wherever he went. He lived a full and vibrant life, expressing himself as an artist, enjoying time as a band member, and swimming with enthusiasm. His presence was a gift, and his laughter will forever echo in the hearts of all who knew him. But most of all, his family was his greatest pride, and he took special joy in welcoming every new addition into the Gallagher family.

His journey began in Glendale, New York, and ultimately led him to his happy places: the Cottage of Darien and East Hampton, New York. It was in these communities that he found peace, lasting friendship, and a true sense of belonging.1

Though his passing brings deep sadness and sorrow, the memories he created and the love he shared will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he touched. His legacy is a profound reminder to embrace life with joy, kindness, laughter, and an open heart. Tommy will be dearly missed and forever remembered.1

The family extends its sincere gratitude to the dedicated and compassionate doctors, nurses, and staff at Stamford Hospital who supported Tommy. In his honor, memorial contributions may be made to the organizations that provided Tommy with a loving second family: Always Reach for Independence (ARI) of Stamford, Star Lighting the Way of Norwalk, and the Cottage of Darien.

Visitation will be held at Lawrence Funeral Home 2119 Post Rd Darien from 5-9PM on Tuesday March 31, 2026.Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30AM Wednesday April 1, 2026 at St. Thomas More RC Church, 374 Middlesex Rd Darien CT. Burial will be private.
