
Norah Delia Gallagher (née Forde), affectionately known as “Noreen” and “Noni,” the cherished matriarch of the Gallagher family, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026, following a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family, whose lives she touched so deeply and effortlessly. Norah’s strength, warmth, unwavering faith, and fierce devotion to her family created a bond that will endure for generations.
Norah was the beloved wife of the late Robert Gallagher and the devoted mother of Marie, Michael, Dennis, Kevin, Brian, and the late Robert and Thomas. She was a loving sister toMartin, Michael, Jack, Mary, and Bridget, as well as a beloved mother-in-law to Joseph,Veronica, Jeannine, Suzanne, and Mary. She also leaves behind thirteen devoted and cherished grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Norah was known for her strength, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends. She spent much of her time at the Cottage in Darien, ARI of Norwalk, and STAR of Stamford, where her son Thomas was embraced. For 27 years, as a YMCA Water Aerobics instructor in Darien, she inspired many with her enthusiasm and joy. Her remarkable life journey took her from Ireland to Brooklyn, Queens, New York, and ultimately to Darien, Connecticut, and East Hampton, Long Island. Norah was the heart of every gathering, her laughter and warmth creating lasting memories. Together with her beloved husband Robert, they built a life filled with family, friendship, laughter, love, and cherished memories. Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, the beautiful memories she created and the love she shared will continue to shine brightly through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey.

Norah Delia Gallagher will be dearly missed and forever remembered. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home, Darien, Connecticut. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Church, Darien. Burial will follow at the Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, 200 Cedar Street, East Hampton, NY
