The owner got it back because the thief forgot to check one thing.
DARIEN, CT — A 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLS450 was reported stolen from the front of a home on Country Club Road in Darien on May 17 and was recovered on the Merritt Parkway a couple of days later because it had run out of gas, according to Darien police.
The owner of the vehicle said he had parked the SUV about 8 p.m. on the 16th, and "stated he believes he left a set of keys in the vehicle overnight."
When he looked outside the next morning the vehicle was gone, and he called the police.
