Mail Theft Investigated By Darien Police
Two separate incidents are under investigation.

DARIEN, CT — Two separate incidents of mail theft are being investigated by Darien police, both of which occurred a few days before a package was stolen from the porch of a local home, according to authorities.
The first mail theft case was reported on Nov. 22 from a residence in the West Avenue/Edgerton Street area. The complainant had placed outgoing mail in his mailbox the evening before.
"When he checked the mailbox early the next morning, the outgoing mail was missing," stated Darien Police Det. James Palmieri. "One of the outgoing pieces of mail contained a personal check."

"Just prior to calling police, the complainant received a bill from the institution the check was meant for informing him of an outstanding balance. He contacted his banking institution, who told him that the check had been cashed on Oct. 29," Palmieri said, adding that the image of the check showed that it had not been altered.
