Norwalk Symphony Announces Partnership With Darien Public Schools, DMPA

The Norwalk Symphony will partner with Darien Public Schools and the Darien Music Parents Association throughout January.

DARIEN, CT — The Norwalk Symphony has announced a new partnership with the Darien Music Parents Association and Darien Public Schools.

This month, Norwalk Symphony’s Brass Quintet will present 10 performances at Darien's five elementary schools. Based on the Symphony’s (Not) Just for Kids programs, these presentations will use STEAM content to introduce students to the brass family of instruments.

Musicians will present their individual instruments, spotlighting elements of pitch, rhythm and tempo; demonstrate unique attributes of each instrument (trumpet, trombone, tuba and French horn); and play musical excerpts spotlighting various genres of music. A moderator incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering Arts and Math (STEAM) attributes with musical history, vocabulary and math concepts. Students will be given a worksheet to support the concepts presented.
