📰 News we're reading

• State Challenged Over Strict IQ Cutoff For IDD Services (disabilityscoop.com) — A Darien resident is among four young adults suing Connecticut's Department of Developmental Services over its strict IQ cutoff for intellectual disability services, arguing it wrongly denies support they need to live and work independently. The lawsuit claims the state's standard is unconstitutional and out of step with most other states, and, if successful, could change eligibility rules and open access to services for many families statewide.

• Connecticut just approved $1.9 billion in bonding. Here's what that covers (darientimes.com) — State officials just approved nearly $2 billion in bonding, including funds to renovate highway service plazas like the busy Darien rest-stop on I‑95, plus major investments in schools, transportation, housing and parks. While the decisions are statewide, improvements at the Darien plaza and other nearby projects could affect your commute, travel stops, and broader tax-funded infrastructure for years to come.
