Obituary: Raquel Fetchin, 47; Former Darien Resident
Raquel will always be remembered for her love of children, confidence, courage, and kindness.

Raquel Johanna Fetchin, 47, of Stratford, formerly of Darien and Stamford, passed away, Monday, January 23, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center after a long battle with acute lymphoid leukemia. She was the beloved wife of Douglas Fetchin for 23 years.
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of Norma Aymerich and the late Andres Arroyo both of San Juan. Raquel earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Eastern Connecticut State University, and her work experience included Bilingual Social Worker, YMCA Regional Child Care Director and PTSA President.

Raquel was a loving and devoted mother her three boys: Holden, Elliot and Carter Fetchin, all of Stratford. She is also survived by her sister Norma Arroyo of Fort Collins, CO, and nieces, Melissa and Alexandra Christowski. Raquel was additionally a proud “Rescue Mom” of several dogs.
Raquel’s Celebration of Life will take place on March 11, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation Church, located on 20 Forest Street, Stamford Connecticut 06901. Parking will be available in the Forest Street Garage.
