Connecticut Weather: 'Brutal' Cold On The Way

Connecticut is looking at record-breaking cold tomorrow. Also a top CT meteorologist updates chances of a winter storm before Thanksgiving.

Record cold is on the way tomorrow and NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said on social media that “odds of a winter storm prior to Thanksgiving are greater than normal,” based on longer term weather patterns. But of course there can be no guarantees, he stressed.

“...I would say the odds of a winter storm prior to Thanksgiving are greater than normal. That said, odds of a winter storm this time of year are quite low so a "greater than normal" chance doesn't mean a slam dunk snowstorm,” Hanrahan explained. “Still, there's all sorts of funkiness going on with the jet stream north of us and I wouldn't be surprised if that leads to a bit of excitement here locally. Stay tuned.”

And as for the present time, Friday temps will make it feel more like January than early November in Connecticut.

“Check out these wind chills on Friday! Most areas will have a "feels like" temperature of 0 to 15 F,” Hanrahan added.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, expect “Sun to clouds with high temperature in the 40s to around 50 today. Plan on a brutal chill coming in for Friday! Our wind chill will be anywhere between zero and 20 all afternoon! Those Friday evening football games will be very, very cold! Dry and cold for Veterans’ Day Saturday.”
