The Darien Land Trust owns or has conservation easements over 180 acres in Darien. These open spaces can be found all over town and provide important habitats for wildlife. The six acres of marshes and tidal wetlands on Nearwater Lane are just one example. Situated on coastal migration routes, this sanctuary is a vital stopover for migrating birds, and the tidal marshes provide wildlife habitat for a number of fish and invertebrates.
