Police: Driver Had Double-Bladed Throwing Knife in Sunglasses Compartment
Police said a 24-year-old driver stopped on Hoyt Street had an illegal knife but no license.

A purple Honda following another vehicle too closely and with no front bumper was driven by a man without a driver’s license, insurance or registration information — but with a knife more than four inches long, police said.
Darien police gave this account (an accusation not proven in court) of the incident:
The car was seen traveling south on Hoyt Street by an officer at about 1 p.m. on Thursday who stopped it near Hoyt Court.
The driver, Anthony Cameron, 24, of Quince Street in Bridgeport, looked extremely nervous — so nervous he was shaking.

He couldn’t produce a driver’s license — a check by the officer showed his license had been suspended — or proof of insurance or registration for the 1999 Honda Accord. In addition to the lack of a front bumper, the car had fresh damage on its rear.
Cameron, who had previously been cited for driving without a license, was arrested and handcuffed.
Inside the car, police found residue of marijuana in a plastic cup in the center console. They also found marijuana residue in a plastic bag. The “Perfect Point” brand double-bladed throwing knife with a blade more than four inches long was in the ceiling sunglasses compartment, along with a second knife with a much smaller blade.
Cameron said he knew about the knife in the car but it didn’t belong to him.
Police didn’t charge Cameron with possession of marijuana. They did charge him with having a weapon in a motor vehicle, driving without insurance, driving an unregistered motor vehicle and driving with a suspended driver’s license.
That night he was released on a $500 bond pending an appearance Aug. 20 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
