Police ID Vehicle, Driver In 'Suspicious' Incident Involving Student: Darien PD
Police issued an update Monday on the investigation.
DARIEN, CT — Darien police said Monday they have identified the driver and vehicle involved in a "suspicious" incident last week in which an elementary school student was approached by a male in a minivan.
"It has been determined that the occupants of the vehicle are teenagers from the local area," police said. "Detectives continue to actively investigate the circumstances surrounding this matter. The department emphasizes that this was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the community."
On Thursday, June 11, at approximately 6:15 p.m., police said they received a report of an incident that occurred earlier that day at 3 p.m. in which a Hindley Elementary School student was approached by a male in a whitish-gray minivan while walking home along the Post Road between the school and Lighthouse Way.

"According to the report, the male operator of the vehicle asked the student to get into the minivan," police said in a news release. "The student immediately ran from the area, and the vehicle continued eastbound on the Post Road."
Police had asked for the public's help in providing more information.
