Scammer Passes Counterfeit Currency In Darien: Police
The suspect approached several local businesses with the fake money.

DARIEN, CT — An unidentified man passed at least two counterfeit $50 bills at Darien businesses over the weekend, according to local police, and the United States Secret Service has been advised of the incidents.
Darien police were initially notified at about 1:30 p.m. on Saturday of an "attempted use of counterfeit bills" at a store in 1000 block of the Post Road.
"The employee on scene stated that a male attempted to purchase a book for $9.50 using a fifty dollar bill," wrote Darien police in a statement. "The employee stated the bill looked old and 'not real.' The employee, believing the bill was fake, told the male she did not have change for the fifty-dollar bill. The male stated he would get change, took the bill, and left the store. The male was described as Hispanic and possibly in his 20’s."
