These Are Connecticut's Safest Communities: 2018 Study
Home security website SafeWise recently crunched the data to produce its ranking.

While virtually no community is perfect when it comes to security, many residents of Connecticut can rest at night knowing that their town or city is rather safe. Five Connecticut communities rank among the top 100 safest in the United States, according to the home security experts at the website SafeWise, and several more are considered among the safest places in the nation to raise a child.
But within the Constitution State itself, which communities are the safest? SafeWise recently analyzed the latest statistics from the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program and other sources to come up with a ranking of Connecticut's 20 safest communities. Click here to read the website's methodology.
Darien is Connecticut's safest community, with a violent crime rate of .05 per 1,000 residents, SafeWise writes. The statistic is from 2016, the most recent year of data. Next are Ridgefield (.08 per 1,000), Newtown (.11 per 1,000), Cheshire (.14 per 1,000) and South Windsor (.16 per 1,000). All five are in the national ranking mentioned above.

In addition to the Connecticut communities that appear among the national rankings, the state boasts other positive elements when it comes to fighting crime, according to SafeWise.
"Equally impressive, no city on our list reported more than one violent crime per 1,000 people in 2016," writes author Alexia Chianis. "And the average property crime rate among these cities was 50 percent less than the US norm, with safe cities such as Greenwich and Simsbury experiencing substantially lower rates of property crime."
