Wallets Reported Stolen From Customers At Darien Trader Joe's: Police

Police said two separate pickpocket incidents occurred at the popular grocery store in recent days. Credit card fraud was also reported.

DARIEN, CT — Two Darien Trader Joe's customers reported their wallets stolen and said their credit cards were used at other locations in separate incidents, according to Darien police.

On Nov. 20, a Darien police officer met with a woman who said she was shopping at the Trader Joe's on the Post Road and noticed her wallet was missing when she went to pay for her groceries, police said in a news release.

The woman told police she received a text a short time later from her credit card company alerting her of a declined transaction at Target in Stamford, police said.

On Nov. 25, a Darien police officer responded to Trader Joe's on a report of a stolen wallet.

A woman told the officer she was shopping, and when she went to check out, she noticed her wallet was stolen, police said.

The woman said she received a text from her bank asking if a charge at the Apple Store in Norwalk was hers, and she also received alerts from her credit card company about attempted charges at the same store, according to police.

The incidents came a week after a distraction theft was reported at the popular grocery store.

Investigations are ongoing, police said.
