300+ Crashes Investigated 4th of July Weekend: CT State Police

Police also made dozens of DUI arrests and issued other violations.

State Police are cracking down hard on speeding drivers, drunk drivers and others violating the laws of the road this 4th of July extended weekend.

"Troopers are focusing on drunken driving violations, aggressive drivers, distracted drivers and speeding," said Trooper First Class Kelly Grant, police spokesman. "Sobriety checkpoints and targeted DUI patrols are also in place over the entire weekend."

Below are State Police enforcement stats from June 30 at 12:01 a.m. to July 3 at 8 a.m.:

  • Speeding: 881
  • Total moving violations: 1,895
  • DUI arrests: 39

State Police investigated 304 accidents, 40 with injury and no fatalities.

State Police investigated 315 crashes, 45 of which had injuries and two accidents that had a combined three fatalities.
