A Great Memorial Weekend!

Middletown, every Memorial Day Weekend, has many events to honor those who served for us.

Saturday they had the unveiling of a new memorial on the Washington St. Veteran's Green to honor those who served from the Gulf War until now.

Sunday was the 119th Annual Parade from the Westfield Fire station to the Miner Street Cemetery. The most important thing they do every year is having young adults, like scouts and fife and drum corps, being very active at the events at the cemetery.

Monday was the downtown Middletown Parade which has a very large turnout from people of all ages. Every year after the parade they ceremony's on the South Green. This year’s topic was about Disabled Veteran's services.

After the Parade at the State Veteran's Cemetery off of Bow Lane they have services and quest speakers to help everyone remember why we can live in such a wonder city, state and country. They all gave some, some gave all!

Also, many Middletown residents attended The Spirit Of 45, a group that is current traveling all over the country remembering World War II. With them are the Pinups for Patriots and other groups supporting the Greatest Generation. Event was at the Iwo Jima Memorial in Newington.
