• Fire Significantly Damages Popular Restaurant In Durham, Owner Hospitalized: Reports (patch.com) — Durham residents are reacting after a fire badly damaged the Cozy Corner Restaurant on New Haven Road and sent its longtime owner to the hospital for smoke inhalation, though he is expected to recover. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control and Route 17, briefly closed near Higganum Road, has since reopened, but the community pillar of more than 35 years is devastated by the loss.
