A morning walk through Parque Juarez (also called "el Llano")
A morning walk in the Llano
I made it to my favorite walking spot this morning and decided to devote today's blog to the activities in and around this popular spot. The park is about three blocks long and 1 block wide (however, a "block" is not a fixed measurement here). In the mornings it is a popular spot for walking, jogging, getting your shoes shined, grabbing something to eat, or, for the young-and-in-love, a place to embrace on one of the many benches in and around the park. On Fridays it is the location of a bustling market, so if you plan on getting much exercise in the park those days, you need to get there especially early.
I spoke to a young man this morning who is in his 5th year of medical school. He has a small table set up on the walkway surrounding the park to check blood pressure and glucose levels for those who are interested. He hopes for a small tip, if possible, since he's applying these tips to his educational expenses. He was gracious enough to let me take his photograph, and I told him how to access this article on Patch. Maybe I'll see him tomorrow, if I get up early enough to walk over there. I'd like to see if he was able to access the site and his photo.
I usually ask permission before snapping a photo of people, and the most common response is "si"...but, many are understandably leery of those who want to take their picture. So, some of the photos you see with this blog were taken from a distance, and I hope, unobtrusively!

I invite you to join me in a virtual walk through the Llano--I think you'll understand why I treasure the mornings I can walk there.
