I know most of you think of mirrors in a practical aspect. You need them in the bathroom to put on makeup, do your hair, etc. You probably also have a full length mirror hidden somewhere on the back of a door. Am I right?! You most likely have not thought of using mirrors to help with your design.
Mirrors can do wonderful things design-wise! If you have a small or dark room a mirror is a wonderful way to brighten a room and make it appear bigger. If you put it on a wall so that the mirror faces a window it will help reflect the light in the room. Remember that a mirror can be used many ways. If you notice in the picture above, the mirror is leaning against the wall. Perhaps you might want to angle it in a corner. Use your imagination and see if you can find an interesting place to put your mirror! Sometimes mirrors can be hard to find. I just got a tweet from CT Lighting that they have expanded and updated their mirror display so that would be a good place to start (or any lighting store if you don't live in CT!). If you are on a budget HomeGoods can have some great bargains. I have also seen some terrific mirrors at tag sales and antique stores at wonderful prices.
So, go ahead, get daring and use mirrors in new ways! If you have a great idea take a picture and send it to me - I would love to see it! j
