One Race Down

my blog is about my life and my enjoyment of wheelchair racing that i have done and continue to do.

As the weather gets nice, many people think about going on vacations or at the very least just spending more time outside enjoying the weather.

I enjoy the nice weather by competing in road races. You may wonder why that is so unusual, well I've been forced into a wheelchair since childhood. The races I compete in are, for the most, against runners.

I got back into racing last season with support and encouragement from the Coginchaug girls' basketball team. I've become friends with some of the players over the last few years. They have even come to some of my races and made signs in support of me.

I also race along side my dad, who runs with me for support.

Last season, I completed seven races, mostly 5K races and one 4K. I just competed in my first race of this season this past weekend, the Feed The Need Hammonassett 5K. I finished with a time of 35:46.
