Two Hikers Fall from Beseck Mountain-Middlefield

Crews were on scene into early morning hours after rescuing two hikers who fell 50 and 150 ft feet from Beseck Mountain in Middlefield on Friday evening.

Two hikers, a female and a male said to be in their 20's fell 50 and 100 feet from Beseck Mountain in Middlefield on Friday evening.    

EMS and fire crews from Middlefield, Durham and Middletown responded to the scene sometime after 9 p.m. to search for the two victims. Two Life Star helicopters were standing by in the parking lot of Perotti's Country Barn.

A Technical Rescue Team from the Middletown Fire Dept. was called in for a high angle rope rescue that took crews until approximately 1 a.m. Saturday morning to bring the first victim to safety.  The patient was then airlifted to Hartford Hospital via Life Star.  The second patient was brought to the top of the mountain at approximately 3:40 a.m. and transported via Life Star.

The extent of injuries are unknown, but both parties were reported to be in stable condition.
