Bring Back CT's Death Penalty, Say Group of State Reps
Connecticut is one of 19 states without a death penalty.
A trio of Republican state representatives are seeking to bring back Connecticut's death penalty, less than two years after the state Supreme Court upheld its abolition.
Three separate bills are currently in the legislative pipeline to bring back the death penalty, proposed by Reps. Robert Sampson (R-80th), Kurt Vail (R-52nd) and Kevin Skulczyck (R-45th), reports the New Haven Register.
The three believe capital punishment acts as a deterrent to crime, and Sampson and Skulczyck told the publication that essentially some crimes are so heinous that they deserve the death penalty.
