Brownstone Named ‘Best Action Park’ By CT Magazine

Connecticut Magazine just released its Best of 2012 list in Connecticut, and Brownstone has been named “Best Action Park.”

“Gather up your crew and head straight there for all the excitement you can handle,” the magazine said. “Swim, snorkel, scuba, rock climb, cliff jump, zip line or kayak at this 29-acre park, nestled in a brownstone quarry in Portland.”

The park offers a myriad of outdoor activities as well water sports. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy a week ago on his tour through the area to promoote the “Still Revolutionary” tourist campaign.
Brownstone oowner Sean Hayes recently agreed to purchase and restore Powder Ridge ski area in Middlefield in hopes of combining the two recreation areas. A closing on the property is expected next month.
