Coginchaug Football Team Kicks-Off Veteran's Star Program
The team is looking to recognize local veterans and their sacrifices this summer and will continue the Honorary Captain program during the 2013 season.

By John Bozzi
The Coginchaug football team continues its mission to bring recognition to area military veterans by instituting its βStars for Vetsβ project.Β Starting in July, Blue Devil football players will volunteer their time to paint 30-inch tall white stars on the foot of the driveways of all veterans, active duty service members, and reservists from Durham and Middlefield.Β The Veteranβs Star will let everyone know that they are passing the home of one who has served and sacrificed.
If youβd like a Veteranβs Star on your driveway, please forward the following information to Stars for Vets, c/o Coginchaug Football Club, P.O Box 244, Durham, CT 06422.Β

The βStars for Vetsβ project follows the football teamβs Honorary Captain program.Β At each home game during the 2012 season a local veteran was named as the teamβs Honorary Captain. The veteran accompanied the team captains to midfield for the pre-game coin toss and an account of the veteranβs service record was featured in the game program and read over the P.A. system.Β Β Β
The Honorary Captain program will continue for the 2013 season so that the Coginchaug community can once again offer its personal thanks to our military veterans.
