Coginchaug Forfeits Saturday's Football Game After Coaching Staff Quits

The resignation of the entire coaching staff forced the forfeiture.

Coginchaug Regional High School has forfeited its football game this Saturday against Granby Memorial, the CIAC announced Thursday.

The forfeiture comes on the heels of the resignation Tuesday of head coach Nick D’Angelo and his entire staff, citing “a hostile environment” and false accusations, the Middletown Press reported.

D’Angelo, in his first year as head coach, told the Press his reprimand of a player during a 21-6 loss to Stafford/Somers last Friday caused backlash which resulted in several seniors quitting the squad and parents filing complaints with school administration.
