Coginchaug's Harper, Augur Collect Post-Season Honors
Blue Devils fullback Sean Harper has earned the Scholar-Athlete Award from National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame, while teammate Ian Augur has been selected to play in the Hall of Fame Classic All-Star Football Game this summer.

Sean Harper was selected to receive a Scholar-Athlete Award from the Northern Connecticut chapter of the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame. He is one of only 23 seniors from the 60 high schools that comprise the Northern Connecticut Chapter to receive this recognition. The award is based on football talent, academic achievement and community service. Harper follows in the footsteps of former Coginchaug player Alec Corazzini (Wesleyan University) who received the Scholar-Athlete Award in 2012. Sean and his parents will be honored at a banquet at the Aquaturf in SouthingtonΒ on Sunday May 19, 2013 at noon.

Harper, who started at fullback and defensive end for the Blue Devils, was named the 2012 winner of the Coginchaug football βFoundations of Honorβ award which is presented to the four-year senior who best exemplifies the qualities of scholarship, leadership and citizenship. He was also named to the Pequot Leagueβs 2012 All-Academic team.
Ian Augur has been selected to play in the Hall of Fame Classic All-Star Football Game. The game will be played at Rentschler Field on Saturday June 29th at 4:30 PM.Β The game replaces the Governorsβ Cup game that featured Connecticut all-stars against Rhode Island all-stars. Augur was selected following a tryout that was open to every high school senior in the state. Β Β

Augur had previously been selected to the All-Pequot League team and, by a vote of the stateβs coaches, to the Connecticut High School Football Coaches Class S All- State Team as a first-team center.Β This is the third consecutive year a Coginchaug player has been named to the All-State team. David Wheeler, 2010 defensive tackle, and Alec Corazzini, 2011 linebacker, represented the Blue Devils in prior seasons. Augur also received the 2012 Coginchaug football teamβs Most Valuable Player Award for his play at offensive center and defensive tackle.
