Cooling Center Opens In Middlefield For Residents Without Power

City officials have been advised Eversource will begin clearing roads with downed electrical wires starting today.

We have been advised as of 11AM on 8/6/20 that Eversource will begin clearing roads with downed electrical wires starting today.

The Middlefield Community Center’s Cafe and Lounge is open as a cooling center from 9AM to 8PM daily during the current power outage, including Saturday and Sunday. Please use the door on the right-hand side of the back of the building (405 Main Street).

  • Air Conditioning.
  • Phone Charging.
  • NO Internet Available.
  • Water & Snacks.
  • Restrooms; no shower.
  • Outdoor Water Spigot available at the Giving Garden Shed back at the back of the parking lot – to fill buckets for home.
  • Masks must be worn in the building. Masks and hand sanitizer are available.

Water, to fill buckets, is also available at the pump station at 25 Mattabesset Road.
Please stay clear of any downed wires.

There is no information from Eversource regarding restoration of electrical service at this time. Further updates will be made when new information is available.

There will be a brush pickup scheduled in a few weeks. DO NOT burn brush. Open burning is currently prohibited in Town, and it is illegal to burn leaves.

Town communications are very limited. Please visit or leave a note at the Town Hall or Community Center should you need assistance. Please reserve the use of 911 for emergencies only.
