CT Man Accused of Killing His Mother Enters Plea

WATERBURY, CT — Elijah Johnson, 20, pleaded guilty Wednesday under the Alford Doctrine to charges he killed his mother, Kacy Austin, 44, during an argument in 2014, reports the Waterbury Republican-American.
The two argued about Johnson using the Austin's car when he strangled her. Under the Alford Doctrine, Johnson is not admitting guilt but acknowledges he may be convicted based on the evidence in the case.
As a result, he is expected to receive at least a minimum term of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced in February, reports Fox61 News.
